I bought this book with 3 weeks left to study for the NCE. I also bought the Rosenthal Encyclopedia and practice tests from the makers of this book. I made notecards from all the info In this book and took the practice test the night before the test. I passed with flying colors! I briefly glanced at the Rosenthal encyclopedia the night before. It has great information and questions, but the size of the book itself was overwhelming for me. This book skipped the fluff, was easy to follow and has simple explanations. I pretty much used this book as a stand alone study guide and only glanced at the others because I spent so much money on them. I highly recommend this as a study guide for the NCE!
This book was easy to read & great for review. I passed my test first try & didn't really study other than flipping thru this book. If you're someone who plans to really study for this exam, I definitely recommend this book because it's an easy way to get a lot of info in a short amount of time!
Great study guide, but not as stand alone. A passing score for my exam was a 93 and I earned a 120. My study method: Read this book and the Study Guide for the National Counseling Exam and CPCE twice. Took both practice tests twice. Took every practice test I could find on the internet. It is passable with good effort.
I actually can’t believe how many high reviews this book has. I purchased the NCE Secrets Study Guide because of how many stars it had. I just took the exam and passed with flying colors - BUT NOT because of this book! I started studying this book and quickly realized the contents were disorganized and in no apparent order that made sense. I purchased Rosenthal’s study guide to compare. It was so much easier to truely understand the concepts the way Rosenthal lays out the material rather than how the NCE Secret Study Guide asically provides you with facts and no help with application. I still gave the NCE Secret Study guide 1-star because it had a practice test. But with that said - the practice test was terrible - I wish I hadn’t had taken it. The questions were confusing and throughout the book and in the practice tests there are spelling and grammar errors. I would NOT recommend this book.
The product that I purchased was the "NCE Secrets Study Guide Your Key to Exam Success"I would rate this product a 4. The overall material content was great!I gave the product a 4 because it would have been nice to include a practice test after each section was introduced. It would be helpful to include study questions relating to what was read in each section.There was a lot of materiel to read through before you actually get to the practice exam.

I appreciate being able to take a practice test after studying and then comparing the answers with the ones provided in the back of the study guide. I appreciate how thorough the answers were to the test. It allowed me to understand how and why I missed some of the questions. Excellent study material.
I currently use a much larger and in-depth guide as well as the recorded version of that text. I love following up each section of the larger study guide with this book!!! It helps to reenforce the information I have already reviewed and, to be frank, it is much more to the point. As a person with learning disabilities, I find it important to find ways to study that help play towards all of my strengths. I believe this study guide is not only built for a "traditional" learner, but also students who need a more manageable review system.
They are helping me to identify my areas of competency and areas to study further. I have already learned a lot!I don’t have any critical feedback to give except possibly adding some visual opportunities for those who learn visually. I felt the most helpful part of your booklets were in the NCE secrets guide which has an outline and study guide material in the beginning. That has helped me organize and study more deeply the materials that will be on the exam.
