This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I am pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed both books immensely. Apart from a few typos in the first book, the stories are very well written and not easily put down. I am hard to please when it comes to books, as I have read hundreds of books set in the regency period, but I would definitely recommend this book. I’m likely to buy more from this author.
Both books sweet and easy to read. The first features a double header romance. The second a single couple. Both seem to deal with pairing of people of unequal rank and their feelings as well as societal acceptance of the union. Very similar to fairy tale stories. A lot of thought about the situation especially the women, which affects their ability to deal straight forward with their live interest. It also gets in the way of the gentlemen being able to accept them. Good stories.
The Viscount Meets His Match: Viscount Sebastion Benedict's marriage to a woman of a lower class left him bitter and sure that all unequal marriages will lead to disaster. When his brother wants to wed a local squire's daughter he sets out to prevent it. Rebecca Beaton tries to convince him that her former pupil will make his brother a good wife. The Viscount finds himself falling in love with the former governess. Well written but slow and predictable. 3 StarsThe Baron's Governess Bride: Grace Ellerby applies for a governess job while wearing a disguise. A beautiful young woman, she has found that her looks cause her nothing but trouble so she is determined to look as plain and dowdy as possible. Lord Rupert Steadwell's last governess ran off to get married so he wants a plain governess that will remain with his daughters as long as needed. Grace Ellerby seems to be the ideal candidate so he hires her. The three young girls are charming and make the story a nice read. I loved the first 80% of the book. Unfortunately, the last 20% turns silly, especially with the "I can't marry you because of what I did" nonsense. Still, it is a nice, pleasant read. 3 1/2 Stars
Great clean story, sweet in nature and interesting storylines. Will keep reading this author as her stories are well-written. The governess storyline with the older but not desperate heorine is also refreshing.
With the long list of rules for proper conduct, the ease with which a lady could loose her reputation even when following those rules and the double standard of ladies must follow rules but me could flout them it's a wonder these couples ever figured out they cared for each other and did something about it.
